PRIVACY & COOKIES POLICY

Everything you need to know about the data you provide that is needed to make this website function.

Privacy Policy

I am a one-person organisation, and I’m committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of every visitor to my website and subscribers to my newsletter. Here, you’ll find information on how I treat the data that I collect from visitors to my website, or when someone subscribes to my newsletter.

Google Analytics

When someone visits www.blacksheepknits.co.uk I use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. I do this to find out things like the number of visitors to the various parts of my site, and what products get the most clicks, so I can ascertain their popularity. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone. I do not make and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting my website. You can find more information on how cookies are used on this website in the Cookies section below.

If I do need to collect any personally identifiable information through my website (like your email address for keeping you informed of any orders being shipped, or your physical address for shipping said order), I will be upfront about this. I will make it clear when I collect personal information and will explain what I intend to do with it, or why you need to supply it.

Cookies Policy

What are cookies?

Like most websites, my website (www.blacksheepknits.co.uk) uses cookies to collect information. A cookie is a very simple text file that gets downloaded onto your PC or other devices when you visit a website. They generally contain two bits of information: a site name and a unique user ID. Once the cookie is on your computer, the site "knows" that you have been there before and can then use that knowledge to tailor the experience that you have. Cookies are needed for the effective operation of my website and to help you shop with me online. They can also be used to tailor the products and services offered and advertised to you, both on my website and elsewhere.

Some cookies collect information about browsing and purchasing behaviour when you access this website via the same computer or device. This includes information about pages viewed, products purchased and your journey around a website. I do not use cookies to collect or record information on your name, address or other contact details. My website can use cookies to monitor your browsing and purchasing behaviour.

How are cookies managed?

The cookies stored on your computer or other devices when you access our websites are designed by:

  • Wix, or on behalf of Wix, (the providers of my website platform) and are necessary to enable you to make purchases on this website. You can also read Wix’s Cookie Policy;

  • Other organisations (like Google for Google Analytics, see above) who help me to find out how many visitors use my site and which pages are most popular, so I can create the content most valuable to you.

Opting Out

You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. To opt-out, you just need to dismiss the Cookie banner that will pop up as soon as you land on my website (Click 'Decline All'). Pressing 'Got it!' means you give my website and website providers (mentioned above) permission to place Cookies on your computer.

Mailing Lists

If you sign up for my regular e-newsletter, either when making a purchase through my online shop or on another page of this website, I will collect personal information as part of the registration process. I use that information: to tell you about the subjects you signed up for (like new products, blog posts or events you can find me at); to contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information (like to let you know I’ve shipped your order or if there are any reasons your order might be delayed); to check my records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. I don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

I use Constant Contact to deliver my newsletters. I gather statistics around email openings and clicks using industry-standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my e-newsletter. For more information, please see Constant Contact’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my newsletters or by emailing me at blacksheepstudioknits@gmail.com. I'll make sure you're unsubscribed as soon as possible, your information will be removed from my Constant Contact list and you'll stop receiving my newsletters.

Data Obtained When You Purchase

When you purchase a product (or products), workshop, gift voucher(s) through my online shop, your name, address data, email and contact number will be stored in my e-commerce system, which is provided by Wix. I keep this data to allow me to process and ship your order. The data you provide when purchasing will also be stored physically in a secure location for my tax records, which I am required by law to keep for at least seven years.

Credit or debit card information is encrypted. My website uses Stripe to process your payment.

Please be assured that I do not share your personal details with any other company without your explicit consent.

Access to Your Personal Information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that I hold. Email your request to me (I'm also my data protection officer), Linda Colquhoun at blacksheepstudioknits@gmail.com.
